The flowers of this small member of the arum family have a green and white striped, cylindrical spathe which curves over to form a hood which gives the flower it's common name. The stripes may become more russet coloured as the flowers mature. The spathe surrounds a narrow curved green spadix. The flowers are held on simple smooth spotted stems. The bright green leaves, each on an unbranched stalk, are heart shaped and up to 16cm long.
