Convolvulus arvensis

Field bindweed                                                                       Περικοκλάδα, χωνάκι

Convolvulaceae - bindweed family                                                                     Dicot.

The flowers of this bindweed are white, but flushed with pale pink and with radiating pink stripes on the underside. The flowers close at dusk, and in shade, forming pleated cones, and only fully open in bright sunshine. The plants have long stems which scramble amongst the surrounding vegetation. Although they are attractive plants, they are considered to be troublesome weeds and their long roots are almost impossible to eradicate. They can spread to cover a large area, particularly on disturbed ground.
