Although Greek sea spurrey is usually grows on the sea shore, the plants photographed here were found in a clearing in the forest, where the land is grazed by the sheep and goats. It is a Mediterranean species but has spread Northwards as far as the south coast of England.

Spergularia from German name of  a related plant spergul from Latin spargo - to scatter, referring to dispersal of seeds
