Apocyanaceae - dogbane family Dicot.
Usually found on the edge of fields, scrambling through fences or brushwood, Cionura erecta has waxy green, heart shaped leaves and clusters of small white flowers. The flowers have an unpleasant smell and the whole plant is poisonous but it has been found to contain substances damaging to malarial mosquitos. The fruits are long green pods which resemble chilly peppers.
