Galium hedreichii is an important plant in Skopelos, as the first specimen ever identified was found on Skopelos by the important Greek plant collector Christos Leonis and described by the famous botanist Halacsy , who named it after another famous botanist Heldreich. It appears in early summer, mainly along the edge of tracks and roads as attractive frothy white flowers on elegantly curved stems. The tiny flowers vary from pure white, creamy white or pale dusky purple, as first described by Halacsy.
