A plant of early summer agrimony, Agrimonia eupatorium, is found in rich grassland in early summer. The spikes of yellow flowers grow quite tall, standing out amongst the surrounding grasses, giving them the alternate English name of church steeples. The bright yellow flowers are followed by rather curious fruits which have a ring if hooks by which they are distributed attached to animal fur or wool.  

The whole plant contains aromatic oils and taken as a tea was once valued for its medicinal properties and applied to wounds helped them heal. The plant was known by Dioscorides, the first century physician, as eupatorium named after Mithridates Eupator, the king of Pontus, who was famed for his knowledge of plants.
