Rough-fruited  buttercup                                                                     Σπουρδοκοκύλα

Ranunculaceae - buttercup family                                                                        Dicot.

This little buttercup plant grows only in damp, shady places, particularly in the vicinity of freshwater springs.

The bright buttercup flowers quickly soon to loose petals as the fruits begin to develop. The green fruits of buttercups contain a single seed; they are called achenes; they form a tight cluster. The achenes of Ranunculus muricatus have a curious appearance with translucent, spiny protuberances.
