Similar to the other mullein, common on Skopelos, V. undulatum, but it differs as the basal leaves are deeply cut but do not undulate, the plant is less downy and the stems are branched. It has the appearance of a candelabra. The yellow flowers have striking purplish-red, feathery stamens.

The plant frequents waste groun and neglected fields.
