This beautiful orchid, Ophrys tenthendifera, was found in isolation under the shade of a stone wall, but in some years it appears in larger numbers. Like many of the ophrys orchids, it is named after the insect it has evolved to attract, in this case the sawfly. A neat slim orchid with pink petals have a central green line. The lip has distinctive deep brown markings on a bright green background which looks like a winged insect.
