Geranium purpureum has tiny pinkish-purple flowers, but they are not as purple as their scientific name suggests; the leaves are deeply divided and its fruits are rounded with long thin beaks, typical of the geranium family. They appear as a part of the explosion of colourful flowers in springtime. They prefer cool, damp or shady places in contrast to Geranium molle which has similar flowers, but is more often found in drier locations.
