This little chickweed flower is native to Greece and found all around the Mediterranean . The delightful plant has pure white star shaped flowers with pink stamens are surrounded by abundant, lush green foliage, which dies back completely in the summer. The weed is edible, but large quantities of raw leaves should be avoided as it contains toxic substances, but these are destroyed by cooking. The English name chickweed refers to the use of the seeds as chicken fodder and of course they also eat the weeds themselves, which are said to reduce stress.
