Compositae - daisy family                                                                           Dicot.

A tufted grey woody plant, Helichrysum stoechas, is a very Mediterranean plant surviving in diest of soils on rocky sites often near the sea. In early summer it has clusters of yellow flowers, each "flower" is in fact, as all the compositae, a collection of tiny florets arranged on a flat disc. Unlike the daisy which has central disc florets surrounded by petal like ray florets, H.stoechas has only disc florets.
