Trifolium campestre
Hop trefoil or field clover Τριφύλλι το πεδινό
Fabaceae - pea family Dicot.
A common clover throughout Europe and Wester Asia, hop trefoil (Trifolium campestre) has small yellow flowers which become orange or brown as they age or when the weather is hot and dry. Like other clovers and all members of the Fabaceae family it takes nitrogen from the air and locks it into the soil, a nitrogen fixer, which helps to fertilise soil, an important function in poor island soils.
Trifolium = Tri - botanical latin for three + folium - latin for leaf
campestre - spanish for field
