Crepis santa is a small dandelion-like plant with a yellow flower head belonging to the Crepis genum, which has numerous species. The plant was given the sancta epithet by the famous Swedish botanist because the first specimen was found in Jerusalem.

Interestingly, the plants produce 2 forms of seeds: heavy seeds, which fall quickly to the ground where they germinate sometimes creating large communities and light, floaty seeds with a tuft of fine hairs (a pappus) which carry the seeds some distance from the original plant, where they can grow in isolation.
