Asteraceae - daisy family Dicot.
A hardy little plant, Inula verbascifolia, has greyish-green leaves which are soft to touch and small yellow flowers on curved stems. The plant is able to survive hot dry conditions because of its covering of woolly hairs and essential oils emitted by the plant, which surround the plant in an invisible protective cloud. It is a chasmophye, growing from cracks in limestone rocks, often close to the coast. It is a plant of Eastern Mediterranean and on Skopelos it is mainly found on the cliffs surrounding the Limnonari valley.
