The yellow dandelion-like flower, Leontodon crispus, is abundant in the olive groves in springtime, creating a attractive contrast to the fresh green grasses and pink and mauve anemones. It is similar to the closely related  but easily distinguished by the covering of stiff hairs on all green parts.

Leontodon  - leo Latin for lion + don from donti (δόντι)

crispus from Latin meaning curly (possibly referring to leaves)
